Formed in East Belfast in 1978 but came to prominence in the early 80's UK punk scene. Released their debut vinyl Dance Til You Drop EP on their own Casualty label then signed to English label WXYZ who released the seminal Defective Breakdown LP. Toured with label mates Anti-Nowhere League and supported The Clash amongst others before disbanding in 1984. Today, Buck fronts the punk / ska / rock covers band Doghouse. The Defects reformed briefly in 2003 to play the 'It Makes You Want To Spit!' book launch and a Terri Hooley benefit the following year. They reformed again in 2010 for Rebellion festival and are still playing today.
